IFRS — Professional

Financial instruments, business combinations, consolidations and the hard standards, worked in full

Key facts

About the IFRS — Professional certification

A professional-level certification for preparers, auditors, controllers and analysts who must apply the most technically demanding IFRS Accounting Standards with confidence. Building on the Foundation and Associate certifications, it moves from single-entity reporting into the standards that dominate group and instrument accounting. You will master IFRS 9 classification and measurement — the business-model test and the SPPI (solely payments of principal and interest) test — and measure debt at amortised cost using the effective interest rate, with fully worked amortisation tables; split compound instruments between liability and equity under IAS 32; and apply the expected-credit-loss (ECL) impairment model across its three stages, including the simplified approach for trade receivables. You will account for business combinations under IFRS 3 using the acquisition method, computing goodwill under both the full and proportionate non-controlling-interest methods, and handle contingent consideration, the measurement period and bargain purchases. The consolidation modules cover IFRS 10 control, intra-group eliminations and unrealised profit, the IAS 28 equity method, IFRS 11 joint arrangements and IFRS 12 disclosures. Further modules work through IAS 19 employee benefits, IFRS 2 share-based payment, IFRS 13 fair value, IAS 21 foreign currency, IAS 33 earnings per share, IFRS 5 and IFRS 8. Illustrated throughout with Mermaid diagrams, journal entries, worked numeric cases and hands-on labs. The Associate certification is a prerequisite.
