Certified Strategic Thinker

CST — think in systems, choose where to play, and win on purpose

Key facts

About the Certified Strategic Thinker certification

The Certified Strategic Thinker (CST) turns strategy from a buzzword into a disciplined, teachable skill. You will learn to separate strategy from tactics and operations, to see organisations as systems, and to reason from first principles and second-order consequences rather than habit. You will master the analytical toolkit every strategist is expected to wield — SWOT, PESTEL, Porter's Five Forces and the VRIO resource-based view — and know precisely when each one earns its place. You will formulate strategy with vision and mission, the sources of competitive advantage, Blue Ocean value innovation, the Ansoff growth matrix and the BCG portfolio matrix. You will make decisions under genuine uncertainty using scenario planning, cost-benefit analysis, decision trees and expected value, while guarding against the cognitive biases that derail judgement. Finally you will close the notorious execution gap with strategy maps, the balanced scorecard, OKRs and cascading goals, and lead with foresight through futures thinking, adaptive innovation and clear strategic communication. The programme is taught with diagrams, worked mini-cases, decision matrices and a hands-on lab in which you build a one-page strategy for a real organisation. It is the strategic-thinking credential for managers, founders, consultants and emerging leaders.
